Playas del Coco Fishing

Playas del Coco is just 20 minutes from Guanacaste International Airport and Costa Rica’s oldest fishing village. It is known as Coco Beach Fishing Town, where you can book daily fishing trips for deep sea fishing or target some roosterfish near shore. Coco’s traditional commercial fishing boats are moored to the left of its 3 km long beach; to the right, all the Papagayo Sportfishing boats are geared for all the saltwater fishing action anglers.

Tourism is the primary source of income for Playas del Coco, and as a result, it is a fully equipped town. Many hotels offer affordable room rentals to visitors. Additionally, there are a variety of bars and restaurants serving international and local cuisine both on and off the beach.

Many dive shops in town take divers out daily. Private charters are available for Papagayo fishing trips where customers can catch yellowfin tuna, sailfish, marlin, roosterfish, wahoo, or Mahi-mahi.

Playas del Coco is sunbathing, swimming, people watching, and a little exploring: at low tide, you can walk over the rocks at the left end of the beach to reach the secluded, white sand beach of Playa Blanca.

This town, located on the beach, serves as the center of services for this area. The port captain and immigration have their offices in Playas del Coco. Three banks, six supermarkets, and medical facilities, including four pharmacies. Visit Coco’s main street and discover a vibrant shopping scene. You’ll find a plethora of indoor and outdoor shops, all offering a wide range of unique souvenirs that are perfect for taking home. Come explore and take a piece of Coco with you.
